Kloster Seehausen

Seehausen was a Cistercian women's monastery founded around 1220/1240 on the site of a previous late Slavic settlement. The founders were likely the lords of Blankenburg. Excavations of the monastery led by Prof. Dr. Felix Biermann uncovered numerous female burials beneath the cloister garth and walk. TeamNun is collaborating with Dr. Biermann and osteologist Dr Bettina Jungklaus and the Archäeologisches Landesmuseum Brandenburg to study these monastic burials.
